Skin Cancer Screening
Full-body examination for suspicious moles, lesions, or skin changes that could indicate melanoma or other skin cancers.
Oral Cancer Screening
Comprehensive examination of the mouth, tongue, throat, and oral tissues for signs of oral cancer—particularly important for firefighters with increased exposure to carcinogens.
Ultrasound Cancer Screening
Advanced imaging that detects tumors, cysts, and abnormalities that can’t be found through physical examination alone. Performed by highly trained sonographers and interpreted by board-certified radiologists.
Thyroid Ultrasound
Examines the thyroid gland for nodules, cysts, or enlargement that could indicate thyroid disease or cancer. Thyroid cancer can be completely cured when caught early.
Liver Ultrasound
Screens for liver cancer, cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, cysts, and masses. Liver cancer often has no symptoms until advanced stages—early detection is critical.
Kidney Ultrasound (Both Kidneys)
Detects kidney cancer, stones, cysts, and structural abnormalities. Kidney cancer is highly treatable when found early.
Testicular Ultrasound (Males)
Screens for testicular cancer, which has elevated rates among firefighters. This cancer is highly curable when detected early, with survival rates above 95%.
Complete Physical Examination
Low-dose chest CT scanning is the gold standard for detecting lung cancer in its earliest, most treatable stages. NDS Wellness coordinates this advanced imaging for New Jersey firefighters who qualify based on age and exposure history.
